Living Room - before the cleanup
As you can see from the picture that the recent typhoon wrecked havoc to my house. All of my furniture got wet and are now thick with mud. My refrigerator and water dispenser floated around inside the house because the water reached chest-high.
I’m still thankful that only my things got wrecked. At least I am still alive along with my loved ones and my neighbors, too. We are now in the process of cleaning up the mess that Ondoy has left.

I hate moral dilemmas. Wherein you are torn between two things that are both very close to your heart and yet you are required to make an action that will hurt the other thing.
That goes as well with a friend. What would you do if your best friend asks you to do something that is really against your will and you think that it’s very inappropriate? Would you still do it out of pure friendship? What if you owe him something, something that is so great that your friend can make it as a leverage for him to convince you to do something.
The action being asked is not criminal in nature. It’s just that it is against your will to do it.
Now how far should a friendship go?

The Philippines most popular search engine, Yehey!, is sporting a new (and in my opinion a much better one) look. It now reminds me of Bing or Google, but more of the former.
As mentioned by Yehey! itself, the company is going back to its roots and they are abandoning their portal look to a simpler, and more focused search engine interface.
I believe that it’s about time that the company started focusing on just one major aspect of their business and build everything else around it.

I got this nice and very inspiring banner/image from Unimaginable Dreams Made Manifest and I just couldn’t help but post it here for others to see and read.
Doesn’t it make perfect sense? Why complicate life when we can untangle all our troubles and worries. And let’s do it now!
Every day, there are things that I would not normally dog but out of curiosity I’d still do it. For example, like taking a different route on my way home. Since I am new to our place, I believe it makes sense that I try to find out the different routes that can lead me to my place.
Also, I’ve tried the different food stalls in the commercial complex near our place just so I’d know which ones serve the tastiest food in case I need to take home some. Does that sound weird? My eating there even if I’m not really hungry with the goal of just finding out which food fare tastes best? I don’t think so, in fact I’d say there are lots of people who do that.
One of my newest mottos in life (and yes, I have many) is to live each day and learn from it. I would like to try a few new things on a daily basis and see what I can get from it. If it hurts me, then I know I should not be doing it again. If I benefit from it, all the more that I should do it often. If my family and friends can gain something from it, then I’d be happy to share my new-found knowledge with them.
This truly made me laugh. It makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? Why take the risk when you can guarantee a longer life if you ease up from work?

Good listening takes skill and understanding. But oftentimes even when we are listening, we may do stuff that make the speaker to feel we are not.
The effect is, definitely, that we’re not being nice nor are we connecting to the individual in a manner in which he or she sees us as listening.
We shall look at ten behaviors that the listener often understands as not paying attention.
But first I’d like you to stop reading and grab a piece of paper and pen.
Now imagine the following situation. You are speaking. This can be in a more formal situation where you are doing most or all of the talking, such as a speech or presentation. Or it could be informal such as standing around with a group of friends shooting the breeze, or sitting and having a one-to-one discussion.
Regardless of the situation, at the moments you are speaking, what are the things the people who should be listening to you do that bother you? Things that you are consciously aware of that you find irritating. Most likely you don’t say anything about them, but they are clearly bothering your talk.
Be specific. Write down what people do or say that may mean, “I’m not getting you.”
When you are done with your list, go back and circle the two you find the most bothering. These two are the most common faults of your listeners that you should find ways to counter.
Probably, some of the things you will find in your list are the following:
1. Interrupting
2. Lack of eye contact
3. No response
4. Holding side conversations (in audience situation)
5. Answering a call from a cellphone.
6. Appearing impatient
7. Completing the speaker’s sentences or answering a question before the speaker has finished asking it.
8. Abruptly changing the subject
9. Multitasking: texting; reading the mail, newspapers, reports, etc.
10. Nervous mannerisms: cracking knuckles, twisting hair, tapping fingers, etc.
My dog’s favorite brand of dog food is Beefpro and he’s been eating that ever since he was a small pup. He’s almost a year old now and he’s very healthy, active and is already quite well-built.
Funny thing is that I’m starting to like the smell of Beefpro. I would actually sniff it for a bit before I give it to my dog. Isn’t that weird? But it’s because it’s the most sweet-smelling dog food I ever encountered.
If my dog could talk, I bet he’d say: “Stop smelling my food and just give it to me!”
I’m innocent? I doubt that, but this little survey says so.
I do stay away from Diet Coke (I never liked it one bit), but I do like rootbeer. I haven’t tasted Dr. Pepper, though. They don’t sell it here.

Ultra sweet and innocent, you have a subtle complexity behind your sugary front.
Children love you, but so do high end snobs… when you’re brewed right.
Your best soda compatibility match: Dr. Pepper
Stay away from: Diet Coke
